What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Akita Prefectural Central Park for its unique, soft grass and ample greenery, making it a peaceful spot for walks and dog owners. Its proximity to Akita Airport is a convenient bonus. However, some note the difficulty in finding restrooms and express caution regarding bear warnings, particularly on weekdays.
"Visited in August 2025.
It's about a 30-minute walk from Akita Airport.
I had a long wait for my flight, so I decided to take a walk there.
It's a straight road from the airport, so you won't get lost.
There's a Stonehenge-like object near the entrance, which is easily visible from the bus to the airport.
Stepping onto the park's grass, I was surprised to find that it was so soft and fluffy. It felt like walking on a carpet. It was my first time seeing a park with grass like this.
The grounds are spacious, and include a dog run, playground, administration building, multi-purpose plaza, and observation deck.
There's plenty of greenery, which offers both forest bathing and a soothing effect.
One thing I noticed was that it was a weekday, so there were no people around, and the speakers in the plaza were blaring loudly. I happened to notice a sign that read, "Beware of bears!!" I was worried and headed back to the airport.
Considering the recent bear attacks, we can't let our guard down, so please be careful."

There's nothing special here, but it's full of greenery and makes a great place for a walk. I think people with dogs would enjoy a pleasant walk with their pets.
The airport is nearby, so you can see planes taking off at certain times."

"The maple trees were turning red. There were many different tree species to explore, so even though the park is large, it was fun. The restrooms were a little hard to find."
