What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Monzen Village Shinzan for its authentic cultural experiences, particularly the captivating Kagura performances and the relaxing onsen hot springs. The retro bathhouse atmosphere and delicious food, like the Yasha Udon, also receive positive mentions. Some guests encountered stink bugs, which are noted as common in the cooler mountain climate.
"The best thing about this place is the kagura performance and onsen. Food is delicious.
I came during autumn, when the weather is starting to turn cold. At first, I was shocked by the number of stink bugs in the room, but it turns out that they are common in the cold weather and the locals are used to these. (If you visit the other places near mountains around here, you will see these). We dealt with them on the first night.
The onsen is the best! We go hiking in the day, so it's great to soak at the end of the day. There's an indoor and outdoor bath, and on the second floor, there's the sauna (which was out-of-order during our stay), and a mineral-cold bath. If you are the resort guest, entry is free-of-charge.
The main highlight of this resort is the Kagura performances. This is translated as "entertainment for the gods", and is wonderful for anyone who enjoys Japanese culture. Especially near the weekend, many people came to watch."
