Japan's Most Famous Summer Festival! Took a quick trip from Sendai to Aomori's famous Nebuta Festival! I've been wanting to go to this festival for a LONG time, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Munakata Shiko Memorial Museum of Art for its serene garden, the powerful and energetic woodblock prints of Shiko Munakata, and the insightful introductory video. The intimate gallery space allows for focused appreciation, though some note the museum's impending closure in March 2024. Reddit

"A wonderful experience! Before you enter, you walk through a peaceful garden. This clears your mind and puts you in a relaxed state before you enter the museum. In the entryway, you can watch a video about Shiko Munakata. It's all in Japanese but you will still enjoy it even if you don't understand what's being said. You can watch the incredible energy that he brings to every print. The gallery itself is small, but Munakata wanted it this way so everyone can take their time viewing every work of art. They have seats so you can study the larger paintings from a distance. I spent about an hour here but you can easily spend more. There is also a great cafe and bakery across the street to go for lunch. I think this is one of Aomori's finest museums! A must see if you visit Aomori City!"

"The museum in Aomori City that introduces Shiko Munakata's works is small, and the exhibits are changed four times a year. There is also a pond in the park, and at the time of my visit, the autumn leaves were just adding beautiful color. It takes more than 30 minutes to walk from Aomori Station, but there are frequent buses from Aomori Station along the national highway, so I think you can get there in about 10 minutes from the bus stop.
Admission fee is 550 yen for adults, and although the exhibition room is a little dark, it was possible to take pictures with some exceptions. The documentary film shown at the entrance is also amazing!
Due to the foundation's financial situation and the deterioration of the building, the museum will close in March 2024, and the works in its collection will be transferred to the Aomori Museum of Art."
