Visitors find Hashiriyu Hot Spring Historic Site a fascinating, unique stop to witness the natural source of Atami's hot springs. Its free entry and 24-hour access are major pluses, though reaching it without a car can be challenging. The intense heat and steam in the cave are a memorable, albeit brief, experience.
"Ir was dificult to find it , no public transport around so you must take a táxi or walk. The geiser itself was interesting but small, it was boiling! Inside de cave is very úmido and hot . Go if you have time to spend."

"Beautiful little spot that few people know about. It is rarely busy. It's a short 20 minute visit at most behind a group of unassuming buildings right on the ocean. It is a tunnel containing a large natural opening where you can see the source water for all of the hot springs in Atami. It's hot and steamy like a sauna so you can only be in there for 5 minutes at a time. There is a small shrine above ground to visit. It's a beautiful view and I believe there is a small restaurant/hotel right in front. It's a short drive from the center of town. Worth a stop! It's free to visit, and there is a small lot in front of the hotel to stop your car. You pretty much drive right up to it. Very little walking involved if you drive there with a car."

"A quick stop. You can just park down the stairs and walk up to check out this hot spring in a cave. It was discovered 1300 years ago.
Will take you 5 minutes to see, but definitely worth it."
