Reviews Summary

Minami-Atami offers spacious accommodations with the highlight being the abundant, salty hot spring water, perfect for a relaxing getaway. Guests appreciate the bay views and well-equipped kitchens for self-catering. However, some find the cost-performance lacking, citing issues with cleanliness, maintenance, and challenging access roads.

"Overall it's a nice get away for the weekend. It is a moderately sized appartment that has many furnishings, utensils and cooking ware. There was a burnable garbage bag waiting for us to use. There is a balcony in room 6B with a nice view of the bay. There are extra futons and couches for guests to sleep on. The bath has a tap for onsen water. It was very salty to taste. There is no food; bring your own to cook. Improvements would be to clean the appartment before arrival. There were many small flying ant looking insects in the bathroom. Since it is up a cliff, it is best to go up there by car or taxi."

Jessica Ing

"The temperature of the hot spring water coming out of the tap is over 70 degrees, so naturally, I filled it with water, but the water was of such high quality that I was able to fully enjoy the hot spring. Even with water, it was very salty, almost like bittern. After brushing my teeth, I rinsed my mouth with the hot water, and it was even saltier than if I had used salt toothpaste. After the bath, I rinsed with regular water from the shower, and my skin felt so smooth. It also warmed my body so much. The room had a dining room of about 12 tatami mats, a counter kitchen of about 6 tatami mats, a living room of about 8 tatami mats, a bedroom of about 8 tatami mats (with two double beds), and a spacious balcony. The kitchen was well-equipped with dishes, a rice cooker, a microwave, a toaster, a kettle, a bottle opener, a can opener, and a wine opener. I bought a sashimi platter from a local fishmonger, so I was able to cook rice and eat it. The young man and the landlady were very welcoming. Since it's a resort condominium, it's structured differently from a hotel, so as long as you understand this, I think it's a very enjoyable accommodation."

番長

"The cost performance is poor.
The service provided for the price is not enough, such as having to take out the trash by yourself.
The floor squeaks.
The amperage of the power is 40A, which is small compared to the number of rooms. The breaker trips when you start using the microwave or IH stove. All kitchen utensils are available.
There are many rooms, so if you want to stay with a large number of people, it is possible, but there is a sign asking you to be quiet after 11 o'clock. I thought there wasn't much soundproofing.
Hot springs can be lukewarm or hot, or the temperature can be incomprehensible. The water pressure in the shower was very low, so people with long hair might have a hard time. Shampoos are cheap and can be very damaging to your hair.
The road to get there is steep and narrow, so if it's a rainy day, you might not be able to climb it with worn tires. Since you have to drive down to the national highway to get to the nearby convenience store, we recommend doing all your shopping in Atami.

Only one thing is that you can see Hatsushima from the balcony and the view is good, so I chose 2 rooms."
