Reviews Summary

Melonbooks Akihabara is a highly recommended destination for doujinshi enthusiasts, praised for its vast and diverse selection, including a notable focus on specific series like Blue Archive. While the store's R18 content is prominent, it also offers SFW options and helpful preview pages. Some visitors have encountered minor issues with customer service efficiency, but the overall shopping experience is considered excellent for finding unique fan-made publications.

"If you’re a doujinshi/fanzine enthusiastic this is the place for you! But be aware that they’ve a lot of +18 content (mostly hentai, but you can find yaoi and yuri too).

If you’re a woman like me, don’t be intimidated, they have female staff. It’s still a male dungeon though 😂

I couldn’t find what I was looking for, but I got a Genshin Impact amazing fanbook ❤️"

"Best store for doujin!! We went here on a whim, and so glad for it. We had been to several other stores in Ikebukuro and Akiba looking for doujin, and just not had much luck. But melon books had wholesome and spicy doujins, clearly labeled, with a HUGE stock. I was specifically looking for Blue Archive titles and this place did not disappoint! There were even gacha machines outside with Blue Archive acrylic keychains (so cute). Big recommend!"

Bj Ray

"Amazing place, perhaps the best for buying manga and doujinshi. Of course, everything is in Japanese and all the comics are sealed (as is unfortunately the norm here), but there are plenty of volumes for reference, and each comic has a page with preview pages on the back, so you can get an idea of what you're getting. Highly recommended for spending an afternoon browsing through interesting comics!"
