What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Surugaya Akihabara offers a vast selection of anime, manga, and retro gaming items at competitive prices, making it a popular spot for collectors. However, some visitors have reported negative experiences with staff attitudes, particularly for non-Japanese speakers, and note that certain floors cater to adult themes.
"At 7:00 p.m. tonight12/05/2025, the male cashier on the fourth floor was extremely rude. Only I was in line to check out and he showed no concern... He just kept his head down and worked. I waited for several minutes before the checkout was successful..."

"I went there while looking for certain figures and was having a good time browsing. Not sure which floor this happened, maybe the second or third one, when I was trying to see a box with a figure I liked and the clerk in the store started shouting at me in Japanese, waving his hands and being rather aggressive. I was shocked and appalled by this interaction, since I don't speak Japanese or understand it. Such a horrible experience, I don't recommend this shop. No need to be rude or so disrespectful to others like that. If you want nice and friendly clerks, better go to Mandarake!!"

"A nice place for the anime stuff you wouldn’t see very often in popular shops but my only concern is that most of the floors was very more for the adults. It’s nice to come across stores that have very cheap anime merchandise but seeing that it was mostly adult stuff kind of disappointed me."
