What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Fudatenjin Shrine for its peaceful atmosphere, beautiful nature, and unique attractions like the 'GeGeGe no Kitaro' forest and seasonal goshuin. Its proximity to Chofu Station makes it easily accessible. Some visitors wished they could understand Japanese better to fully appreciate the history and interact with locals.
"A sudden visit to Chofu was one of the best experiences and decisions I made during my time in Japan! I walked here from chofu station for about 10 minutes. Went here on Thursday, 28 March 2024 and it was quite empty. Before I got there at noon, near the gate, lots of bikers passed by, and it felt so awkward because I'm a muslim wearing hijab going into a shrine. But really, I thought no one mind at all. I just really loved to enjoy the environment of the shrines and the surroundings.
Since I don't understand japanese, I used a translator to read the story of the statue. I still couldn't really understand, though, but I liked it here (and elsewhere in japan) that people didn't seem to be bothered by my existence even though I, a foreigner, wasn't there to pray, just to look around to feel and see the architecture and other things. It's really beautiful. It would be so much better and wonderful if I could speak japanaese to ask about the history, buy some ema or charms, and talk with the locals."

"Very attractive shrine. When I visited this shrine there were 2 exhibitions. One is kindergarten kids' works. The other is piano performance at the "Noh Stage" at the shrine."
