Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Art Aquarium Museum Ginza for its unique artistic concept, blending traditional Japanese culture with modern art through mesmerizing goldfish displays. The immersive atmosphere, creative tank designs, and stunning light effects make it a highly photogenic and memorable experience. However, some express concerns about animal welfare due to tank conditions and flashing lights, and note the limited variety of fish beyond goldfish.

"Really cool place! I would highly recommend checking this one out. There were so many different cool colors and various designs that I loved it. It is a really nice place to just check out if you want to see some unique fish and have a nice weekend out. I do wish in one of the rooms they had different types of fish beyond just goldfish but still it was really cool. You will enjoy your time with friends, fam, or a date absolutely. You can buy tickets in advance or at the little kiosk. We didn't have any issues just getting them at the kiosk and were able to go right in."

"Visiting the Art Aquarium Museum in Ginza felt like stepping into a dream. The way they combine light, sound, and movement with goldfish is really unique—it’s not just an aquarium, it’s like walking through an art installation. I loved how the tanks are shaped in creative designs and how the colors change to give different moods.

The atmosphere is stylish and very photo-friendly, especially for anyone who enjoys capturing artistic shots. My favorite part was how they mixed Japanese traditional designs with a modern vibe—it really made the space feel special.

On the other side, I did notice that the whole place is focused only on goldfish, so if you expect a big variety of sea life like in other aquariums, it might feel limited. Also, it can get a little crowded, especially on weekends.

For me, though, it was worth visiting. It’s the kind of place where you don’t just look—you actually feel the art."

"We visited the Art Aquarium Museum, up on top of the 三越department store in Ginza. This is a one of a kind Art + Aquarium + Museum anywhere in the world. We have not seen anything like that before.

銀座三越 Ginza Mitsukoshi, is one of Japan’s oldest and most prestigious department stores, encompassing a wide range of exclusive brands.

We visited the ART AQUARIUM MUSEUM アートアクアリウム美術館 Ginza. It is a unique living art exhibition that blends traditional Japanese culture with modern artistic techniques, showcasing thousands of goldfish as living pieces of art in intricately designed, visually stunning aquariums. The museum features about 100 varieties of goldfish presented in beautifully illuminated tanks that change with the seasons to evoke the natural beauty of spring, summer, autumn, and winter.

Key standout features include the “Goldfish Corridor,” where we could walk through a path of columnar, illuminated tanks creating a serene, temple-like atmosphere enhanced by mirror illusions, and the “Goldfish Waterfall,” a multi-layered arrangement mimicking a cascading waterfall with light effects.

Additionally, the museum combines other traditional Japanese arts such as ikebana (flower arrangement) in the “Flowerium,” bamboo forest-themed lighting in the “Bamboo Grove of Goldfish,” and origami-themed decorations in the “Origamirium,” blending cultural art forms and aquatic life for a deeply immersive sensory experience with light, music, and fragrance.

The environment is designed to offer a dreamy, otherworldly ambiance where goldfish swim gracefully amid artistic lighting and floral arrangements, making it not only an aquarium but also a modern artistic reinterpretation of the Edo-period goldfish appreciation culture.

This combination of art, nature, tradition, and modern technology makes ART AQUARIUM MUSEUM Ginza a one-of-a-kind cultural and visual experience for us."
