What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Tendon Itsuki is praised for its delicious, crispy halal tempura and generous portions, offering great value in Ginza. While some find it slightly overrated or the Wagyu disappointing, most agree it's a satisfying meal, especially for Muslim travelers. The Tokyu Plaza location is appreciated for its comfort, though waits can occur during peak times.
"I came here alone, waited around 30 minutes during lunch time. The service I think is not that bad and for food itself I think it's around under 10-15 minutes (?). The concept is self order using machine and I paid with cash, but just in case you're going to use card, the staff will help you.
I bought the cheapest one, the total around ¥1,600 if I'm not mistaken because I added sauce for ¥100. The choice I've made for the sauce really best decision that I made. It's giving more flavourful esp for Indonesian, it's not spicy, just for flavour. If it's not I think it's just going to bland for us. The ¥1,500 package just basic Tendon, 1 chicken 1 tempura shrimp 3 vegetables, but seriously as Indonesian I have small appetite, so it's kinda hard to finish all of them (I still finish it). I'm glad I'm not buying the premium one because I don't think I can finish all of them t-t. They already give free green tea, fluffy egg, and miso soup, you don't have to order the beverage.
I think this is the most healthy fried meal I've ever tried (positive) 🤣 but I'll think again if I'm going to comeback to this place, because portion in Japan really big, maybe I need accompany in the future!"

"The food is good and comes in generous portions. The tempura is crispy, and the sauce that comes with it is also delicious — they even sell the tempura sauce in bottles for around 1,800 yen. Each meal is served as a set, as shown in the photos. You can also refer to the images for food prices.
The shop has limited seating and the space is quite small, so you may need to queue during busy hours— we waited around 20-30 minutes and it might be a bit tight if you’re carrying many shopping bags.
Always keep some cash ready, as the self-order machine sometimes doesn’t work properly.
The shop is located near the B2 escalator of Tokyu Plaza Ginza. It’s a nice spot to stop by for a meal when you’re tired from shopping."

"I came here for a late lunch but still had to wait about 20+ minutes. Based on good reviews I had a little high hopes
I ordered a special premium with two shrimp tempura one eel tempura one squid tempura one fish tempura and vegetable tempura. It didn’t came with a lot of sauce but they provided sauce on the table or counter.
It did offer homemade special hot sauce which cost 200 yen extra. I didn’t try though
The tempura was crispy and definitely flavorful. Volume was great. I had to try hard to finish it.
Though it was filled with tourists but I don’t think the waitress could only speak minimum English.
I did have a problem with the atmosphere because during the 20ish minutes of my meal there was a family with two or more little kids being crying and yelling. And the staff or the family no one was trying to do anything. Please check my video which only 13 seconds but the real noise lasted almost my entire time over there."

The Halal Assurance
Many TikTok creators and Instagrammers highlight the halal aspect as a primary reason for visiting. This focus on halal certification is crucial for building trust and attracting a specific demographic of travelers. The restaurant's dedication to this standard is a key selling point and a significant draw for those seeking safe and delicious dining options in Tokyo.
Beyond the certification, the restaurant's commitment extends to offering a welcoming environment for all. The spacious Tokyu Plaza location offers a more comfortable dining experience compared to potentially smaller, more crowded establishments, further enhancing the appeal for those seeking a relaxed meal.
Navigating the Menu & Portions
A recurring theme in reviews is the generous portion size. Many diners, especially solo travelers, find it challenging to finish their entire meal. This is a common characteristic of Japanese dining, but it's particularly noticeable here. If you have a smaller appetite, consider ordering a less premium bowl or even sharing with a companion. The option to add extra sauce for a small fee (around ¥100-¥200) is also a popular choice for those who like their tendon extra flavorful.
Ordering is done via a self-service machine, which is efficient but can sometimes be temperamental. It's recommended to have cash on hand as a backup, although staff can often assist with card payments. This system streamlines the process, especially during busy periods, allowing the kitchen to focus on preparing the delicious, crispy tempura.
The Ginza Experience
The accessibility of the restaurant is a major plus. It's just a few minutes' walk from both Ginza Station and Yuraku-cho Station, two major transit hubs in Tokyo. This makes it incredibly easy to reach via the extensive Tokyo subway system. For those exploring the city, finding a delicious and reliable halal meal in such a central and upscale area is a significant advantage.
While the restaurant itself is a draw, its location within Ginza adds to the overall experience. Ginza is known for its high-end boutiques, department stores, and sophisticated atmosphere. Dining at Tendon Itsuki allows visitors to experience this upscale environment while enjoying a hearty and authentic Japanese meal.
