What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors are captivated by the Aoike Blue Pond's surreal blue color, especially on sunny days. The surrounding forest trails offer a pleasant walk, though the accessibility to the pond itself, involving stairs, is a drawback for some. The clarity of the water, allowing views of fish, is another highlight, but the pond's beauty is highly weather-dependent.
"5 Nov2025, after the first lake, you need to walk up some stairs to reach this lake. Due to the dropping leaves, the lake didn’t look as “reflective” as when it was clear. Wheelchair and prams are not suitable in this section as it is accessible only via stairs."

"A simple 35-45Min hike. Not complex mostly flat terrain and some wooden steps. Very clean and well maintained. The store opposite the carpark area is great for a simple lunch bite and souvenir shopping."

"I initially wasn't planning on coming here but the day before I met a videographer who told me about this lake and showed me photos. It was gorgeous and I had to see it for myself.
The parking is ¥500 and plenty of spots, the lake was about 500m away from the parking lot. There is also a trekking route you can take around which I didn't as I was in a hurry.
The water is so clear you can see fishes swimming inside. Beautiful. This could possibly be Sanji's All Blue. Hehe"

The Science Behind the Blue
The intensity of the blue can vary significantly depending on the weather and time of day. On cloudy days, the color may appear muted, leading some visitors to feel it's 'overrated.' However, on a sunny day, the pond can be truly breathtaking, with the sunlight illuminating the mineral-rich water to its fullest potential.
It's important to note that the pond is a natural feature, and its appearance is subject to environmental conditions. While the water is exceptionally clear, allowing you to see fish swimming below, it's not a place for swimming due to its delicate ecosystem and the mineral content.
Navigating the Trails and Accessibility
Visitors are advised to wear comfortable and sturdy footwear, as the trails can become muddy, especially after rainfall. This is a crucial tip to avoid discomfort and potential slips.
For those who enjoy a bit more exploration, there's an option to take a longer trekking route around the area, which can offer different perspectives and a more immersive nature experience. This is ideal for hikers looking to spend more time in the natural surroundings.
