Reviews Summary
Hakata Port Tower is highly praised for its free admission and stunning panoramic views, especially during sunset. Visitors appreciate the serene atmosphere and lack of crowds, making it a peaceful experience. While the tower itself is not exceptionally tall, the vistas of Fukuoka and Hakata Port are consistently described as breathtaking and well worth the visit. Some note the early closing time as a minor drawback.
"I visited this tower around lunch time and then again at sunset.
It offers an expansive 360° view of Fukuoka and Hakata port and stays open later enough to watch the sunset over the water as well as the transition into full night sky.
There were surprisingly few other people considering it was a Saturday and it's free to enter. Yes - the cost is free!
I highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for a bird's eye view of the city. The cost is just an added bonus.
I plan on returning at least one more time to try and catch a sunset with fewer clouds."

"FREE ADMISSION. In a way this tower is much better than Fukuoka Tower in the distance because it has free admission and there are barely any other tourists here. The entrance is small and not that well marked, but it leads into a museum area and from there you can go to the tower's base. There are two elevators that take you to the top. After the initial group left, we had the whole place to ourself. There are good views of Hakata and there are images showing what each sight is in the distance. There's a funny sign on the street that says "Welcome to Nagasaki" and it makes quite an ironic picture."

"I seem to gyrate towards towers everywhere i travel to 🤪 we walked all the way from Tenjin along the river bank and it’s a great way of seeing the part of Fukuoka. The port tower is not tall in any sense, but it has a great view of the sea and surroundings. Come during sunset and believe me it’s gorgeous. The tower also lit up in blue and red at night. Entrance is free and the staff is so courteous 👍🏻 there are some historical info as well as model ships to see. Hardly anyone comes here, so there is mo crowd at all. I really like the feel here, serene and solitude. Its good then there is no crowd else it will spoil the whole feel 😉"
