Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Korekawa Jomon Site for its fascinating collection of ancient artifacts, particularly the world's oldest lacquerware, and the helpful English explanations. The small cafe run by friendly volunteers is also a highlight, offering a taste of local hospitality. However, the closure of the Jomon hut replicas since 2020 is a noted disappointment for some.

"If you're on the Jomon trail it's probably a must see. But otherwise it's just a small museum with stone age and bronze age artifacts from the region. The interesting thing for us was the examples of very early lacquer ware. Going back to 500BCE if not earlier. Some English, and there was also an audio guide.

The annexe with recreation Jomon huts was closed since 2020 apparently, which was disappointing.

Tiny cafe run by three enthusiastic older ladies (volunteers I'm guessing) serving cheap ramen and onigiri.

One hour max really."
