"This shrine, dedicated to a "children's god," is rare in the Tokai region. Its prewar status was that of a prefectural shrine. Its floats are famous in the region, and the Kamezaki Shiohi Festival, featured annually in the local media, is held here at Kamisaki Shrine.
I'd been curious about this shrine for many years whenever I passed by the national highway, but this time, by chance, I finally got the chance to visit for the first time. The shrine grounds are home to impressive historical sites, including Taga Shrine, Tenmangu Shrine, the Ise Grand Shrine worship site, the remains of Kamezaki Castle, and the remains of Kangetsu-tei Pavilion, and from the elevated area you can see the ocean below. Even on a weekday, there were a few visitors, perhaps locals out for a walk. Considering such a historic shrine, I was surprised to see that the shrine office, though a little dated, was a modern concrete building."
