What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find Ichikawa Zoological and Botanical Garden to be a charming, compact zoo perfect for short family outings. Its accessibility, interactive petting zoo, and affordable miniature train ride are frequently praised. While some note the animals can be lethargic in the heat, the overall experience is considered enjoyable and good value.
"A mini Zoo that you can enjoy even for a few hours. They have petting zoo. You can feed & touch some animals like goats & guinea pigs.
Upon entering the zoo, you can see a 3-story building. There’s a museum on the 2nd floor & access going to the zoo on the 3rd floor. This is convenient if you have mobility problem, best for strollers & wheelchairs by using the elevator. On the 3rd floor, is the restaurant & souvenir shop.
This is just a mini zoo so please don’t expect to see lots of enormous animals but they have horses, cows & orangutans(might be your missing siblings…just kidding).
Ramps are available everywhere so is it really convenient for PWDs and baby strollers.
Don’t miss riding on the mini train. A ticket cost 100 yen, you can purchase on the machine in-front the mini train station. The ride would last for about 4 minutes. It’s worth the price so please take a ride even more than once.
They also have a giant bird cage, where you can get inside & see different birds closely.
Thank you for taking time to read my review."

"A small and cute zoo, perfect for family with small kids. I was surprised how close we could get to some animals (without bothering them, of course). While walking through the zoo, we met a turtle strolling by and a baby monkey. The staff were young and friendly. They shared fun facts about the animals and answered all the questions from the kids with so much warmth."

"Pretty small zoo but it was nice. Animals were so lethargic because of the heat of summer, they didn't go out of their dens (except for the gibbons which howled and raged inside their cages non-stop). Still, cute. You can visit the Natural History Museum nearby as well. Kids really enjoyed it."
