Reviews Summary

Visitors find Harunotsuji Site a compelling glimpse into the Yayoi period, appreciating the scale of the ancient settlement and the free access to historical ruins. While the site is well-maintained and historically significant, some note the potential challenges with accessibility for the elderly and limited on-site amenities like restrooms, especially during peak seasons. Pre-visiting the Ikikoku Museum is highly recommended for a richer understanding. Reddit

"It's a good place to get a feel for life in the Yayoi period. There are several restored buildings spread across the large grounds, some of which you can enter. However, perhaps because it was Obon, there were no guides, and you had to park your car a little further away at a museum-like place and walk, which might be a bit difficult for the elderly or in the middle of summer. I couldn't find any toilets either."

"It's exciting to think that there was a large settlement in the Yayoi period on this small island. The ruins are well maintained, and you can stroll around while imagining what it was like in the Yayoi period. I think you'll enjoy the ruins even more if you learn about them at the information center before visiting them."

"I visited this place on a tour. I knew about the Toro and Yoshinogari ruins, but I had never heard of this place. However, I heard it is featured in textbooks today. The nearby electric poles and power lines are buried underground so as not to ruin the atmosphere of the time."
