Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the breathtaking natural beauty of Cape Hinomisaki Park, particularly the dramatic coastline and unforgettable sunsets over the Sea of Japan. The Hinomisaki Lighthouse offers stunning panoramic views, and the nearby shrine provides a peaceful cultural contrast. While generally praised, some may find the lighthouse climb challenging.

"⭐ Hinomisaki (日御碕)
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hinomisaki is one of those places where Japan’s natural beauty and mythology come together perfectly. The rugged coastline with waves crashing against the rocks is breathtaking, especially at sunset when the sky and ocean light up in deep colors. The Hinomisaki Lighthouse, one of the tallest in Japan, offers panoramic views that are well worth the climb.

Nearby, the Hinomisaki Shrine stands quietly among pine trees, said to protect Japan through the night while Izumo Taisha protects during the day. It’s a unique pairing that gives the area a deeper cultural significance beyond just its beauty.

The atmosphere here is peaceful and less crowded than other famous spots in Izumo, which made the visit even more memorable.

What to know:

The lighthouse has an entrance fee, but the view is worth it.

Great spot for photographers and sunset lovers.

Parking is available near both the shrine and lighthouse."

"must-go if you’re in izumo. weather was unstable during summer (my plan cancelled twice due to HEAVY rain, for 2 years), other than that, it’s absolutely beautiful! bus from taisha/JR station, clean washroom, parking, vending machines, restaurants and info centre, the big beautiful shrine and many tiny shrines nearby, lots of road signs and educational signboard - they even list the sunset time for you, for each season!!!! birds, sea, flowers, islands. even the road along is full of wows. HAS IT ALL!!"

"Amazing view of the sea. The rocks along with strong waves forms a breath-taking view that is unforgetable. The photo I took does not give justice to the view in real life."
