Reviews Summary

Shinkawa Onsen offers a unique and intensely hot hot spring experience, praised for its natural, free-flowing waters and affordable entry. While some find the extreme heat challenging and note the facility's age, many appreciate the local atmosphere and the refreshing contrast of the cold bath. The take-home spring water is a popular, memorable feature. Reddit

"I went around 3 PM on a weekday.
It seemed like most of the customers were regulars.

While I don't mind the large number of regulars, the following issues bothered me.

1. The water was too hot.
2. The cold bath was too small.
3. The sauna was small. (As a result, the temperature dropped every time someone entered or exited the sauna.)

The baths and lobby were both spacious and clean.
The receptionist was also very nice."

"The building is old, which is not a problem, but it's not very clean. There's moss growing on the bath chairs, and the regulars are rude and vulgar. There's no other hot spring in the city that's as bad as this. People who pretend to be regulars here should be aware of their vulgarity. I'm never going again!"

"Shinkawa Onsen

This hot spring is within walking distance of the station. At first glance, it looks like a regular public bath, but that's only on the outside. The water is incredibly hot—45 degrees?! It's free-flowing, making it impossible to bathe for long periods of time. The flowing water has turned brown.
While there are no amenities, this bathhouse was a truly memorable experience."
