Reviews Summary

Kamakura is praised for its blend of historical temples, iconic landmarks like the Great Buddha, and scenic coastal beauty, especially the Enoden train line. Visitors appreciate the relaxed atmosphere and beautiful sunset views. However, some find certain shrines unremarkable, and the area can get very crowded, leading some to suggest a day trip isn't enough time.

"This is a lovely small shrine but just one of many, with nothing to distinguish it, in particular, from so many others. There is an “altar”where you can make a donation and receive a tiny symbolic “sakazuki”or cup for drinking sake into which you can then blow your troubles, subsequently smashing the cup on a rock nearby, whence the god of dissolving troubles will relieve you of your burden. Make sure the cup is broken, though. If not, repeat until the cup actually breaks. Worth stopping in if you’re nearby but, unless you have a concern specific to the offerings of this shrine, hardly a destination worth seeking out."

Reginald Williams

"Nice temple with few interesting spots.
You have turtle statue.
If you pet him it is believed that your health could improve if am not wrong.
It has red weird things as you could see on the photos and also the Torii was which is obviously rare for the temple."

Beyond Bōken

"It is a very spacious precinct.
Antiques were lined up today. Is it a flea market?"
