If you have an interest in the temple’s history and or want to pray there, it is acceptable to enter - just be mindful of the rules and exercise proper etiquette (talk quietly, dress modestly, leave a small offering, etc). If you have questions (in Japanese), there is usually a priest within the small on-site shop."
