Reviews Summary
Chateraise Ski Resort Yatsugatake is lauded as a charming, family-oriented destination with gentle slopes perfect for beginners and children. Visitors appreciate the stunning Yatsugatake views and the unique delight of the Chateraise dessert shop. While some find the slopes too easy for advanced skiers, its welcoming atmosphere and excellent ski school make it a memorable winter getaway.
"A cozy small family-oriented ski area. Hills may be too easy for adults but good for kids. The Chateraise brand of cakes and bread gives an extra delight for kids."

"Good slopes for beginners. The facility is well run, there is a buffet, two eateries, a bakery and a little food shop. You can borrow all the equipment. Overall, a great place to spend the weekend, even if you don't ski you can sit around and enjoy the views or take a walk in the area (I recommend this if you don't like skiing, there are nice fields nearby)."

"Just had my first ski lesson. Highly recommended. Paid for 121 as learning nihongo and felt I might struggle in a group. The school paired me with a young instructor named Kai-san....who was awesome...5-star.
Very professional...extremely skilled at teaching....totally fluent in English.
I felt he increased the difficulty of instruction in perfect unison with my capability, so I was never scared and never bored. Also, I felt safe because he was always right there ready to catch me and frequently offering rests...which I finally did need because after 10 runs my thigh muscles became tired (btw he was Japan national champion so demonstrated technique literally backwards in front of me!).
Kids did a group lesson and had amazing fun too. Ended up much faster than me (thought I was flying...then they waved as they zoomed past me!).
Regarding the resort itself: Honestly I'm not experienced, but found this resort great. There are 5 slopes with differing difficulties (I only tried first 2 levels) and I rented the gear from the venue. Food is reasonably priced and Tonkatsu curry tastey imo.
Great day."
