"Museums highlights the vast contribution Shibusawa to Japan's modern development. Most exhibits are displayed in Japanese and English."

"Watched the 2021 大河drama 青天を衝け about Shibusawa Eiichi, came to see his residence & museum, it’s worth the visit if you’re interested in the Japanese modern history before WWII, the important transition period from Shogun 幕府 to 大政奉还 & 明治 Industrialization.

He was well learned of both Eastern & Western culture (beautiful handwriting of calligraphy) & open minded enough to make practical changes to move old Japan forward which lay the foundation of the later imperial Japanese Empire.
I’d say he’s kinda like Elon Musk of his time, ran so many government positions & companies throughout his long life…

Also, the museum doesn’t have everything in English, so better watch the drama first then come visit. The old style rooms are so nice!"
