"He is a giant of Japanese literature and a true national writer, and he is the father of the social mystery novel, who created and led a new genre called the social mystery novel. He expanded the mystery novel from a cult audience to the general readership (office workers and housewives). He changed simple detective novels into mystery novels."

"The Kitakyushu Municipal Matsumoto Seicho Memorial Museum is a literary museum located in Kokurakita-ku, Kitakyushu, that exhibits works related to the life and achievements of the author Matsumoto Seicho.
After Seicho's death, it was decided to build a memorial museum in his hometown of Kokurakita-ku, with the aim of honoring his achievements and passing them on to future generations. It opened on August 4, 1998 (Heisei 10) in a corner of the southwestern edge of the Kokura Castle ruins.
Inside the museum, Seicho's achievements as a writer are introduced through videos and exhibits. One of the highlights is the exhibition room that faithfully recreates the exterior of his home in Takaido, Suginami-ku, Tokyo, as well as his study, library, and reception room, donated by his surviving family, to the way they were when he died."
