"This was such a fun day trip from Kyoto. We took the train to the bus (directions on the website and on Google Maps were spot on). The museum was very interesting and had information on everything spanning natural history to human cultural history. The aquarium was surprising large! There is an area where you can each packed lunches and there is a restaurant (we did not eat there). We spent a good amount of time there. We also visited the botanical gardens, which you can get a combination ticket for when you enter Lake Biwa Museum."
