Kusatsu is considered one of Japans top hot spring resorts due to the sheer volume and acidicity of the hot water with its iconic Yubatake ♨️ The most tattoo-friendy onsen town we visited during our trip - the 3 largest public baths (Sainokawara, Otakinoyu, and Gozanoyu) here are ALL tattoo friendly!!! Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the stunning volcanic landscapes and the unique experience of Kusatsu Onsen, particularly its therapeutic hot springs and tattoo-friendly policies. However, the inaccessibility of the summit due to volcanic activity and unpredictable foggy weather can detract from the views. Some find the souvenir shops overpriced and food portions small. InstagramReddit

"Just found out that there is Mount Kusatsu, I always go to the hot springs. Today we arrived at Mount Kusatsu. It's a shame because it's foggy and the weather isn't good, you can't see the sulfur, the road is being repaired, and the parking lot is closed, a little below there is a place to park, there are wild blueberries growing on the rocks, the area is really beautiful and amazing, you can feel the clouds and sky very close. I'll come again."

Wita Tanaka (Asobiniiku)

"great place, excellent view, curvy road like S. Germany. Many tourists, some are speeding, souvenir shops are over-priced, food portions are small but indeed one of my favorite places."

Per Aspera Ad Astra

"Went there on a cloudy rainy day with mist obscuring the distance peaks. The drive up is quite scary with hair pin turns and there are sections with strong hydrogen sulphide smell coming through the cracks in the ground."
