What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Hanazono Golf is praised for its exceptional course conditions, with fairways remaining surprisingly dry even after rain. Visitors appreciate the innovative golf cart design and the overall pleasant golfing experience. However, some find the pace of play to be slow, and the scenic views of Mt. Yotei can be obscured by overcast weather. Service quality has also been a point of contention for some.
"Hana 2 cafe was surprisingly inexpensive and only 5 minutes drive from Hanazono308 where we were doing other summer activities. The food was ok, nothing too spectacular. In fact, you will find the pork cutlet curry and ramens better in the mountains during the ski season."

"Quite possibly the best course conditions post rain/showers I’ve ever played in. Expected cart path only, but they said fairways are open. I could see why! I was expecting puddles and to slosh around in some spots. Found ZERO puddles or wet patches. Outside of a slick texture on grass, slightly more wet than morning dew, I’d never had known it rained.
Sad that it was overcast and I didn’t get any views with the mountain in the back, but can’t control that.
You get a locker upon arrival and I had Yo rent clubs. I chose their premium set and got some brand new Bridgestones. They have these clutch shelves built into their golf carts. Why don’t we have that I’m the US!?
I enjoyed the course and it’s layout. Highly recommend"

"Very slow play and packed with golfers. Took us 3 hours to finish 9 holes on a monday time slot! Not what I want when I am on a relaxing holiday in Hokkaido. Course condition and design is otherwise good but not as interesting as the Rusutsu courses which are more mountainous and have views of Mt Yotei. We did Rusutsu River course 18 holes in 4hr! as there are 2 18 holes and was quiet even on weekends!"

Golfing in Niseko's Summer
The experience at Hanazono Golf is enhanced by thoughtful amenities, such as the innovative golf carts equipped with convenient built-in shelves, a feature that impressed one visitor. The course layout is generally well-received, though some golfers find other Niseko courses, like those at Rusutsu, to be more dramatically mountainous and offer more prominent views of the iconic Mt. Yotei. Despite this, Hanazono provides a solid golfing challenge and a pleasant atmosphere.
It's important to note that while the scenery is beautiful, the weather in Hokkaido can be unpredictable. Overcast conditions are common and can obscure the views of Mt. Yotei, which is a significant draw for many. Visitors are advised to manage expectations regarding clear vistas and focus on the quality of the course and the overall experience of golfing in such a unique natural setting.
Navigating Niseko's Summer Activities
When planning your summer in Niseko, consider the variety of dining options available. While the golf course restaurant offers decent food and an English menu, exploring local cafes and restaurants can provide a more authentic culinary experience. One reviewer mentioned Hana 2 cafe as a nearby, inexpensive option, though the quality of food at the golf course itself was described as 'ok' by some. The key is to balance your activities and dining to fully appreciate what Niseko has to offer beyond its famous winter persona.
