"A beautiful temple with a long and cool history. There is a museum where you can see insanely beautiful statues. There are texts explaining each one and you can get the explanations in English.
They have goshuin stamps for 500 yen and all kinds of other cool merchandise. The staff are very friendly and kind.
If you like Japanese history and know the Taira family, you should definitely go take a look."

"This is a small temple off the tourist path, so very genuine. Good for offering your prayers and a few joss sticks. My wife was more interested in the main prayer hall while I mostly walked around to enjoy the peaceful serenity and the everyday life walking outside the gates. I would drop by if it was along the way (it was on the way back to our hotel) but I would not go out of my way to find it."
Mun Kew Leong
"The temple is located in the famous Kyoto's Higashiyama district. Of deep historical significance, founded back in 10th century by Kuya Shonin. Exquisite statues (including of Kuya himself). Beautifully maintained gardens. Fascinating destination for history and art enthusiasts."
