What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the tea ceremony experience in Gion for its authenticity and the hospitality of the hosts. The kimono rental is a highlight, with guests loving the quality and comfort of the attire. While some find the initial arrival chaotic, the organization and educational aspects of the ceremony are highly appreciated.
"When you first arrive it feels like a tourist trap because people everywhere are waiting to get in. But once you’re in, it is a well organized machine. They give you bracelets to know what kind of tour you are in (white for a group, yellow for a private tour). Upstairs a lady does your hair, and you can pick your own kimono to wear. The tea ceremony was very educational, and felt very relaxed. The entire team was extremely hospitable and kind. Would definitely recommend doing when in Kyoto. Book in advance though!"
