"Kukedo is a cave. It was formed when faults and cracks formed in the andesite and tuff bedrock due to crustal movement, and the rough waves of the Sea of Japan eroded along these cracks.
Shinkukedo has three entrances, forming a 200-meter-long underwater cavern connected like a tunnel. The cave is spacious, and on calm days, it is possible to explore it from a glass-bottom boat.
According to the Izumo Fudoki, Shinkukedo is recorded as the birthplace of Sada no Okami, the deity enshrined at Sada Shrine. As a result, Kaga Shrine was enshrined here in ancient times, and it became a sacred area. Even today, a small shrine marking the former site remains within the cave. Legend has it that the cave entrance was created by a mother goddess shooting a golden bow and arrow at the time of the god's birth.

Princess Kisaka (Kisagaihime) was one of the two goddesses who revived Okuninushi no Mikoto, who had been burned to death by the Yasogami (eighty gods), using powder from the shell of an ark shell."

"This cave, also known as Kamikubedo, is said to be the birthplace of Sada-no-Okami. It has three large entrances, measuring 40 meters high and 200 meters long.
When his mother, Kisakahime-no-Mikoto, shot a golden arrow through the cave, a light streamed in and she exclaimed, "It shines!" This is the origin of the place name Kaga.
The arrow is said to have pierced a small island offshore, leaving a hole. This island is called Matoshima, and the cave and the hole are on a straight line.
