"Fukuurajima is one of Matsushima’s most beautiful and easily accessible islands, connected to the mainland by the striking red Fukuurabashi Bridge. Once you cross over, you’ll find yourself surrounded by lush pine forests, quiet walking paths, and stunning views of the bay from several lookout points like Miharashidai. The island feels peaceful and unspoiled, perfect for a relaxing nature walk or quiet reflection. Along the way, you can visit small shrines like Benzaiten Temple and enjoy a tea break at the island’s cozy teahouse. The mix of nature, spirituality, and scenic beauty makes Fukuurajima one of the most rewarding places to explore in Matsushima."

"Loved visiting, the island is well maintained and had many beautiful views. It’s nice to meander around the island and see plants and wildlife. There’s a public restroom and cafe on the island. The bathroom was well kept, and we didn’t visit the cafe. The walking paths are mostly “paved” with a soft turf. Some of the trails were more natural with roots and rocks occasionally sticking up. I would recommend a visit. ¥200 fee was worth it."

"It’s a great place for a stroll, and you’ll feel safe here because there are no bears🐻 even at this season."
