What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Ninomaru Historical Garden for its beauty, tranquility, and affordability, offering a peaceful escape adjacent to Matsuyama Castle. While some noted maintenance issues like empty ponds during certain visits, the overall experience is highly regarded as a serene and picturesque Japanese garden.
"Beautiful, peaceful garden right next to Matsuyama Castle, 200円 for adults and 100円 for children. The buildings of the Ninomaru apparently burned down in 1872, and in the 1990s rather than rebuild them, they used the floor plans as the positions of the water pools and flower beds. I think the concept is well executed.
We came in August 2024 and while it was very hot, there are trees and structures that offer shade. The small waterfalls are pretty. It's not the best season to see flowers or fruits but it was nice nonetheless."

"Beautiful Japanese garden. You cannot enter the castle from here. The garden itself costs 200 yen a person to enter. Very cheap and a nice escape to walk around. There is a free parking lot around the bend from the museum parking lot"
