📍三島楽寿園 Mishima Rakujuen Park, right outside of Mishima Station. Had some time to kill while waiting for the next train so we decided to check out the park, and we had NO IDEA the overwhelming cuteness that we were about to encounter. Had to rush back to the station because I could not say goodbye to those cutesy capybaras 🥹 Also it was my first time touching a llama, it’s SO fluffy!

Reviews Summary

Rakujuen Park is widely praised as a beautiful, peaceful, and family-friendly destination offering exceptional value for its low entrance fee. Visitors love the charming mini zoo, especially the capybaras, and the serene national scenic beauty gardens. Some minor critiques exist regarding the zoo's animal enclosures, but overall, it's considered a highly recommended stop in Mishima.

"Very beautiful and local park
Quiet and peaceful walking and enjoy a lot typical views that I saw in animations. There is also little museum & zoo & rest & children thing inside. Could spent 1 hour at least!
Sadly I wish to contribute more for the zoo inside (it is included)
And thanks a lot to the people who are maintaining it!"

"It costs 300 yen to enter but there is a lot to do here. Lots of playgrounds for kids and other activities as well as a cafe - inside and outside seating - and other eating areas. I didn't visit the local museum - closed until the next day - but I did the tour of Rakujyukan - the Meiji era house at the centre of the park. Tours leave every hour and last about half an hour. The tour is in Japanese but there are small guidebooks in English available. Walking around the beautiful ponds and gardens us worth the entry price alone. The cafe near the entrance has food and drinks available - basic but good value. I only took a star off because of the zoo. It's not the worst ( but could always be better) - I just don't like animals being shut up for our amusement."

Jodie Aberdeen

"This is the most worth-it park that I have ever visited in Japan (pay per entry ones). For
300 yen entry fee - you get a mini zoo (think red pandas, alpaca, prairie dogs, miniature horses), a small funfair for kids, a museum, a Japanese style garden, a locomotive, cafes, playgrounds and a variety of native birds.

The park is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. I visited in late winter, but I am sure the park will be stunning in spring considering the abundant sakura and peach blossom trees.

Definitely not to miss if in Mishima."
