"I hiked Hayachine on Sep 8, 2019 from Kawaranobo. I am posting my experience and some suggestions below with lots of photos. Hope this will be helpful since I could’t find most recent information.
I was planning to start from Kawaranobo and return from the Odagoe. However I learned that this trail was closed two years ago because of landslides when I arrived there. It wasn’t written on any website I had a look in English. Anyways this is the closest parking available location so I start walking to the Odagoe trailhead which is about 45 min further along the road. At the Kawaranobo there is a information center, bathrooms etc. I just started walking and noticed that a car stopped and took me to the trailhead. Thanks to this guy who is one of the people who are in charge of these facilities I dind’t have to walk this distance. There is a bus stop at Odagoe but I think the season was over. Check the timetable in advance. There is no hut or bathrooms on the way. You can buy a special bag for toilet at the information center. The suggested time from Odagoe is 2:20 and descending is 2:05. But I could make the summit in 1:25 and came back in one hour. Take your time and enjoy beautiful flowers. It is very rocky so make sure you have suitable shoes. Better to have gloves since you sometimes need to hold the rocks to climb. The total altitude change is 867 and summit is 1917 m. Although it wasn’t rainy or cold the clouds and wind blocked the view. The best season is from second half of June to mid of July. Today tora no o change color into red and it was amazing. There were some other flowers as well check the photos. People I met on the way were very helpful and kind. Some ladies shared home made mochi. Overall it was a great experience. Hope to visit here in June next year.
Side notes: there is another trailhead just across the Odagoe. It is going to the peak of the mountain in front of the Mt. Hayachine. It was written 1.5 km to the summit. I was about to try since Hayachine was very quick :))"
