It was not easy to book the ryokan as it was already fully booked in June. Had to adjust the itinerary to fit in the hotel. The ryokan is famous for its Onsen at the bottom of the iya valley and you have to take the cable car down. The spring water is lukewarm, direct from the source and always running and it flows down to the river below. A very interesting Onsen experience by the riverbed … #jap...

We wanted to try the top hotels in iya valley and this was also a great find. The Onsen is now situated right on top and you need to also take the cable car up to soak. The hospitality is amazing and room was also very comfortable. The food was delicious and the lady boss was very kind to entertain with a local folk song. Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the unparalleled natural beauty and the unique experience of the riverside onsen accessed by a scenic cable car. The tranquil atmosphere and rejuvenating waters are highlights, though some find the dining options disappointing and the staff's English limited. The remote location requires planning but offers a truly memorable escape.

"Love the outdoor onsen. The temperature is just right to stay soaked for a long period of time. The carbonated nature also adds an interesting feeling. Great views too of course. However, I heard the male side was very windy when we went, and hence the water wasn't warm enough for them."

"This remote hotel takes a while to get there but offers a prime relaxing experience, well worth the money. The room was perfect and well prepared, the welcome, explanations and service was done with a good English and a friendly and respectful staff who didn't hesitate to answer our questions. The room offered a view like no other at all times. The meal was an interesting swim in the Japanese culture with a panel of different dishes and flavours. The onsens also had a view on the valley and could accommodate several people, there was no issue with space. In the end an amazing experience that we won't forget."

Sylvain Domenjoud

"This is a once in a lifetime deal. The beauty of the natural aesthetic paired with the authentic Ryokan experience is unparalleled in Japan. Forget Tokyo and Kyoto. Shikoku Iya Valley is a must. And this Ryokan was exceptional in everyway. It will blow your mind and no expectation can prepare you for it. I lived in Japan for many years and have travelled all over the country. This was my favourite place."
