What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Cape Muroto for its stunning natural beauty, unique rock formations, and spiritual significance as a pilgrimage site. The well-managed walking paths and panoramic ocean views are frequently highlighted as major draws. However, some find the extensive sea views repetitive, and the journey can feel long for a short visit.
"Wow! What a place!! This is on the Ohenro pilgrimage trail so the walking paths are very well managed. I walked along the beach path for about 30 minutes, went inside the two caves used by Kukai where he was enlightened and took on the name Kukai (Sky and Sea) because of the sky and the sea that were visible from the caves and brought enlightenment to him. There are several lookout structures, lots of interesting rocks and since this is a geo park area, a lot of interesting rock formations forged over thousands of years by the Kochi ocean. This would be about a half day visit but if you or someone you are with likes rocks and looking at rock formations, a vast ocean and a multitude of different types of ships passing by, you might need more time here. I think the Muroto area would be perfect as a three night four day escape from whatever is bringing you stress at the moment."
