I'd say about 10km of the 14km was unpaved. Due to heavy traffic, the road was well-trodden, but there were some scree patches and some sections with a moderate gradient.
I started from Mt. Amakasari, but for first-timers, I recommend starting from Sasaga Mine, as it's a steeper climb.
There was a spectacular view from the corner near the tunnel."
