The jungle-like trail is appreciated for its unique flora and fauna, and the option to get a personalized summit certificate adds a special touch. Some find the final ascent challenging due to steepness and ladders.
"With a fine weather in the late November breeze, we hiked 小富士さん and enjoyed the view of the sea, the neighboring islets, and the beach just down below. It's so breath-taking to be up there as if you're at the edge of the world. The hike itself wasn't that difficult because of the established trail. I recommend to hike it early in the morning just to comfortably enjoy the space, peace, and quiet. It won't disappoint you. 💙"

"I think this is the southernmost inhabited island in Tokyo that you can reach on your own. It takes around an hour to get there from the southernmost point of the prefectural road. The weather was good and the view from the summit was spectacular. We encountered some wood pigeons along the way, so it was a really enjoyable journey.
If you inform the Hahajima Tourist Association inside the ferry terminal in advance that you will be climbing to the summit, purchase a kit (for about a few hundred yen), trace the summit plate on paper and submit it, you will be issued with a personalized certificate of summiting. If you plan to climb, don't forget to visit the tourist association when you arrive on Hahajima."

"Kofuji is the place I most wanted to visit on Hahajima.
The view from here is spectacular. With blue sea and blue sky, the conditions were perfect. However, the wind was extremely strong... (^^;
Also, since it was mid-March, we were able to see whales.
I rode my moped to the southernmost end of the prefectural road and from there took the promenade leading to Kofuji.
I arrived in about 45 minutes, taking the occasional photo along the way.
The promenade has a jungle-like feel, but it's basically flat with few ups and downs and is easy to walk on.
However, there were some climbs and ladders at the very end, which left me out of breath (^^;
I was able to spot a rare Japanese wood pigeon halfway along the promenade.
There are many different plants and sights to see on the way here, so I highly recommend this place if you're visiting Hahajima."
