What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Ozawa Sake Brewery for its rich history, beautiful riverside garden, and delicious sake. The brewery tour offers fascinating insights into traditional Japanese brewing, and the Seiryu Garden provides a serene spot for tasting and dining. While tours are primarily in Japanese, the overall experience is highly recommended for its cultural value and scenic setting.
"I visited here as part of a private tour and really enjoyed the experience.
It was very interesting to learn the history of the building and family as well as the production methods.
I was very interested to learn about the “ball” which is hung outside that gradually changes from green to brown over the year. I would love to see the start of the season!
It was also interesting to understand the changes made following the reclassifying of “sake” and how this now impacts the brewery.
It was a very enjoyable time."

"This sake brewery is located in a beautiful mountain region of Japan. A terrific place for a memorable day trip out of Tokyo. The sake is excellent and there a shop that offers samples and bottles for purchase. There are a number of restaurants clustered in a wooded area by the river. They also offer a brewery tour but be sure to get tickets ahead of time.
This is a popular place for hikers and nature lovers as well as folks out for good food and drinks. It can get a little crowded on weekends and holidays but is still a terrific place to visit to enjoy sake and food in a beautiful nature setting."

"Highly recommend! My husband took me here for Mother's day and it was beautiful. I could spend the whole day here. We couldn't get a tour because they were all booked but my husband went on the tour a few months back and loved it. The sake was delicious, my husband and I bought a bottle of the #2. Even if you don't drink sake it is worth a day trip. There is a cafe with coffee, cake and other food/ snack options. A bridge and a bell, and shrine. You can tip your toes in the cold river on a hot day. So beautiful that it shouldn't be missed."
