"An impressive full-scale Gundam statue can be spotted at the Osaka Expo, making it one of the most iconic and memorable highlights of the event. The sheer size and detail of the 実物大ガンダム (life-sized Gundam) is astonishing, offering fans and visitors a rare chance to experience this legendary mecha up close.
The craftsmanship is incredible, with precise attention to the mechanical design that makes the Gundam look like it could come to life at any moment. Its presence isn’t just about anime culture — it also symbolizes Japanese creativity, innovation, and engineering.
For anyone visiting the Osaka Expo, this is an absolute must-see. Whether you’re a lifelong Gundam fan or simply curious, standing beneath the towering figure is a breathtaking experience that leaves a lasting impression."

"In front of the Gundam Next Future Pavilion, located in the West Gate Zone of the Expo 2025 site on Yumeshima Island, Osaka, the first-ever life-sized Gundam statue to appear in the Kansai region was displayed from April 13 to October 13, 2025.
The statue, modeled as the RX-78F00/E Gundam, stood at an overall height of 16.72 meters to the fingertips (12.31 meters to the top of the head) and weighed 49.1 tons. It featured an unprecedented pose—resting on one knee, raising both arms, and extending one hand toward the sky in a symbolic gesture to space and the future.
Its construction utilized recycled materials from the life-sized moving Gundam previously exhibited at Gundam Factory Yokohama between December 2020 and March 2024. It was then reassembled in its new RX-78F00/E form specifically for Expo Osaka, and the statue remained fixed and non-operational.
Before its unveiling, on October 23, 2024, a traditional Japanese “head-raising ceremony” was held to celebrate the installation of the statue’s head, marking the completion of assembly and adding a cultural dimension to the event.
Beneath the statue, visitors could enjoy an immersive interactive experience inside the pavilion across seven phases (Phase 0 to Phase 7). Entry was organized in timed intervals of approximately 12 minutes between groups, offering screenings and interactive displays simulating a journey from “Yumeshima Terminal” to the space station “Star Jaburo” via an orbital elevator, along with scenes depicting life alongside Mobile Suits such as Gundam and Haro."
