What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Tokachigawa Onsen offers a unique moor hot spring experience with highly praised skin benefits and beautiful natural surroundings. Guests often rave about the quality of the food, especially the buffets with free-flowing local alcohol, and the serene atmosphere. However, some international visitors have reported feeling less welcome compared to local guests, and transportation to the resort can be inconvenient.
"We were the only westerners in the hotel and I definitely got the impression that they didn’t really want western tourists as customers. We didn’t feel very welcome. We were in a suite with onsen and paid quite a bit for the room. We were given access to the priority lounge and the attendants were not friendly at all. They pretty much ignored us and were actually a bit hostile. The Japanese guests were totally fawned over by the attendants and had excellent service. Staff in the dining room also appeared to give much better service to the Japanese guests. We have been in Japan almost 3 weeks and this is the first time we did not feel welcome. I would not recommend this place for western guests.
The suites are awesome though, beautiful room and beautiful view."

"Good buffet dinner & breakfast with wide spread, fresh ingredients and free flow alcohol. It was nice to dip in the outdoor onsen on a cool autumn day. Value for money as it's cheaper than other Onsen hotels. but the drive to this resort was rather boring, passes by farmlands. But thanks to the stay at Tokachigawa onsen resort, we had a chance to explore obihiro area including iwanai senkyo gorge"
