"Although it is small, it is one of the most valuable ancient ruins in Japan.
Within the park there are two large and small burial mounds, a pit dwelling, and the remains of a large dwelling. All of these are reconstructions, but they give a good idea of what the area was like back then.
These are valuable resources for learning about the lives of the people who are our ancestors. This is a facility that we would love for people of all ages, from adults to small children, to see.
We are very grateful to those who decided to preserve this place and have worked to maintain it."

"This complex archaeological site was discovered in Tana Shiota, Chuo Ward, Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, and dates from the end of the Late Paleolithic period (approximately 20,000 to 18,000 years ago) to the Jomon and Kofun periods.
It is located on a low terrace with a height of 11 meters on the left bank of the Sagami River. Hydrosedimentary deposits can be seen on the river side of the site, and it is presumed that this Late Paleolithic site was located on the banks of the Sagami River.
The remains of the building at this site, along with hearth remains, pillar holes, and rounded gravel on the periphery, are among the oldest building remains in the Japanese archipelago, with only about 10 confirmed examples in the country, alongside the Hasamiyama site in Fujiidera City, Osaka Prefecture.
