"Good exercise in the morning!
I've been living in Sapporo for about 20 years, but this was my first mountain climb in Sapporo, Mt. Sankaku.
I cycled from home and started climbing from the Yamanote entrance at 5:20. I reached the summit in about 30 minutes, enjoying the various sounds and paths I walked along!
Unfortunately it was a cloudy day, but it felt very refreshing.
Next time, I'd like to climb on a sunny day and see the sunrise.
On the way back, I went close to the Miyanomori entrance and returned to the Yamanote entrance.
I was out of breath on the way up, but I was more careful on the way down because I felt like my ankles would get hurt. Also, my toenails were long and painful, so I think I'll cut them.
Lesson learned from this experience.
There was a squirrel there, and it was so cute.
Mountain climbing is the best!"

While the climb to the summit is relatively short, typically around 30 minutes, it's still important to wear appropriate footwear, as the descent can be tricky on your ankles if you're not prepared.
It's also crucial to be aware of the natural environment. While not as common as in larger wilderness areas, there have been reports of bear sightings. The presence of wildlife, like squirrels, adds to the charm of the hike, offering delightful moments for observation.
Capturing the Scenery
Beyond the summit, the forested trails themselves offer ample photographic opportunities. Dappled sunlight filtering through the trees creates a beautiful, serene atmosphere. Capturing the textures of the bark, the vibrant green of the foliage, and the winding paths can result in stunning nature shots. Keep an eye out for small wildlife like squirrels, which can add a charming element to your photos.
For the best photographic results, consider visiting during the 'golden hours' – shortly after sunrise or before sunset – though access might be limited by daylight. Weekday afternoons can also provide good lighting conditions without the peak crowds. Remember to be respectful of other hikers and the environment while you're capturing your memories.
