What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Kakunodate Castle Ruins Furushiroyama Park for its stunning panoramic city views and peaceful atmosphere, especially during spring cherry blossoms or autumn foliage. While the 'castle ruins' are minimal, the rewarding hike and natural beauty make it a worthwhile, hidden gem for those seeking tranquility away from crowds.
"A hidden spot with a fantastic overlook of the city, I'm surprised there aren't more reviews!
It's a somewhat steep but short (15-20 min.) hike up for some gorgeous views of Kakunodate. There honestly isn't much to see in terms of the castle remains, but the views are fantastic and well worth the climb, even in autumn.
Note: The signage is a bit confusing; The entrance to the walking trail is on your right, after you pass the shrine but before you actually reach the map/sign. Just keep an eye out for stairs to your right!"

"I visited it in around 9 am, and there was no one but me. The air is really fresh and the view is breath talking. However, even though the distance to the top isn't that far, it's quite steep, so be prepared."
