What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors appreciate Sashimaki Wetlands for its easy accessibility and the unique spectacle of abundant skunk cabbage blooms, especially for those who can't hike long distances. However, the boardwalk's condition, including its narrowness and slipperiness, is a recurring concern, making it less ideal for those with mobility issues. The lack of facilities is also noted.
"Visited 10/Apr/2025: not many of them were blooming.. but can be a good stop over in this route. It's free; just do some donate on parking at a coin box."

"This is a colony of skunk cabbage, located right next to National Route 46.
In Oze, you have to walk for hours to see them, but here, it's a perfect access environment with zero walking time. If you have weak legs, you can see them from the car. You can also see Zazen grass and Kikuzaki Ichika flowers.
You can also catch a glimpse of the remaining snow on Mt. Akita Komagatake between the trees."

"It only takes 10 minutes to get from Tianze Lake. There is a parking lot at the entrance that can park about 20 cars. It should be fully open on 4/24. There are not many people. It is a quiet and comfortable wetland where water plantains grow. There are small purple flowers growing in clusters in the back section (I don’t know) You know what kind of flower it is), the overall area is quite large, and it takes about 20 minutes to complete the walk (if you don’t take a bunch of photos deliberately), the boardwalk continues to need repairs. If you think this place is good, you can consider donating some repair funds. It is highly recommended to come and have a look during the cherry blossom season. (The cherry blossoms at Kakunodate and Kitakami Exhibition Center are in full bloom on April 24)"
