Day Trip vs. Overnight Stay

While day trips are possible and offer access to the renowned 'gold' and 'silver' spring baths, staying overnight at Taenoyu Onsen provides a more immersive experience. This allows for extended relaxation and the chance to enjoy the serene atmosphere without the rush of day visitors.

📍 Taenoyu, Akita | #妙乃湯 Just 4 hours away from Tokyo, we discovered Taenoyu deep within Nyuto Onsen village, a hidden onsen gem nestled in a beech forest. Taking a dip in the outdoor Konyoku or mixed-gender bath with a view of a stunning waterfall felt unreal, almost like being in a Ghibli scene where time slows and you’re left in awe. It’s an experience that words or visuals hardly do justice ...

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about Taenoyu Onsen's unique milky-white waters and the stunning natural setting, particularly the outdoor bath with a waterfall. The 'gold' and 'silver' spring baths also receive praise for their distinct qualities and cleanliness. However, some find the outdoor mixed baths can be crowded and dominated by male visitors, and day visitor parking is limited.

"Came here to experience the public bath at this traditional ryokan in Nyuto onsen area. The onsen was very crowded, especially the two outdoors. They are mixed area for both males and females, but fully dominated by the men. Parking spots for day visitors are quite limited."

Carl Wong

"Tried their daytime mixed bath onsen. The water with rust color so the body is covered when you dip in the pool. It called “gold” soup. It’s very nice to be by the natural with viewing the waterfall while you can relaxing at the onsen. In woman side they have a clear water onsen called “silver” soup. The shower area and changing area are very neat and clean too. Do note that they don’t have face toner or cream provided, but shower gel and shampoo they have."

L

"We went for day trip private bath and we are satisfied. The private bath’s view is great. Location is good as well because the bus stops directly in front of the place."
