Timing is Everything

While Jingu Bashi is a gateway to Meiji Jingu Shrine, its own charm has shifted. The vibrant cosplay scene is largely gone, but it remains a popular meeting point and offers a glimpse into local life. Visit early on weekdays for a quieter experience.

Beyond the Bridge

Jingu Bashi itself is a stone bridge, but its appeal lies in its proximity to Meiji Jingu Shrine and Harajuku's bustling streets. Don't expect a major attraction on the bridge itself; it's more about the journey and the surrounding experiences.

What to do in Shibuya after the Scramble?

Hey folks, l am planning to go to Shibuya on the second evening of my trip. As-is tradition, I'll of course be seeing the Hachiko statue and doing the Scramble. But beyond that, what else would you suggest I do? Is there any merit in "going off the beaten path" in a busy area…

Reviews Summary

Jingu Bashi is primarily recognized as the grand stone bridge leading to the serene Meiji Jingu Shrine, offering a peaceful transition from the bustling city. While the vibrant cosplay scene it once hosted has faded, it remains a convenient meeting point and a picturesque gateway. Visitors appreciate its architectural presence and its role in connecting Harajuku's energy with the shrine's tranquility.

"An adorably-decorated, sweet potato food truck was located on this shrine bridge (entry and exit for the gravel path) for visiting the large Meiji Jingu Shrine.
Just outside JR Harajuku station.

Stone-baked sweet potatoes that were piping hot, carefully cut, and served on old newspaper pieces. Yellow flesh sweet potato. Texture was super soft and not at all dry.

The vendor was quite kind and entertaining.
We walked around the corner for some stone seats to eat our fun snack!

I also saw another vendor selling small handmade figures and small crochet or knit items.

🟫 This is a very wide bridge ( bashi aka 桥)that you cross before reaching the entrance torii gates of Meiji-Jinggu Shrine.

🟨 This bridge is situated just next to the new Harajuku Station. I saw the Japanese people using this bridge as a convenient meeting point."
