What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Shinagawa-juku Old Tokaido is appreciated for its historical significance and tranquil atmosphere, offering a glimpse into Edo-era Japan. Visitors enjoy the walk along the old Tokaido road and the informative historical markers. However, some note the limited shopping and fear that development may impact its charm.
"This is not the most beautiful or exciting place you will visit in Tokyo, but if you want a nice stroll with a ton of history this is nice. Several ok temples and bridges to see and good placards to read. Two locals stopped and offered advice and spoke freely about how neighborhood has changed and fears that it will be gone to development. Worth taking a walk through before that happens. Very limited shopping in January but if more people go maybe things will improve. This is not the rich futuristic Tokyo and if you have the time I think it is worth going. Photos of several spots in area."

The Historical Significance of Shinagawa-juku

They share a sentiment that the neighborhood has changed significantly and fear its unique past could be lost. This makes visiting and appreciating the area even more poignant, as you're experiencing a place that holds deep historical value and is cherished by its community.
