"The Deai Bridge in Shirakawa-go is more than just a way to cross the river — it’s a beautiful introduction to the village itself. As you step onto the suspension bridge, you’re greeted by the stunning sight of traditional gassho-zukuri houses nestled among mountains, with the sound of the river flowing beneath adding a peaceful rhythm to your walk. It’s especially breathtaking in winter, when snow blankets everything in white, making the entire scene feel like a postcard come to life. Walking across the bridge gives you a moment of quiet reflection and anticipation before entering the heart of the UNESCO heritage site. It’s not just a path — it’s a memorable part of the journey and sets the tone for everything that follows."

"Deai Bridge, located in the scenic Shirakawa-go region of Gifu Prefecture, is a charming pedestrian suspension bridge that offers breathtaking views of the Shogawa River and surrounding mountains. As the main entry point into the historic Ogimachi Village, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the bridge provides a dramatic and picturesque welcome for visitors.

Crossing the bridge is a serene experience, especially during spring (May 2025) when the surrounding landscape is refreshed with lush greenery and blooming flowers. Its sturdy yet graceful structure complements the natural beauty of the area.

In short, Deai Bridge is more than just a passageway—it's a memorable experience."

"Free, Beautiful and Safe as of when we visited on March 23,2025.. In case you missed it:
Ogi-machi Gassho-Zukuri Village is registered as The World Heritage. This historic Gassho-style house is extremely flammeble. So do not smoke while walking around, do not drop any burning cigarettes, do not build any fires or set off any fireworks in the village.

The bridge seems to connect you to 2 small villages: Shirakawa and Ogimachi- they are bus stations on both sides . Our bus stopped at Shirakawa bus terminal and we walked till here, which took us about 46mins while taking our time."
