Reviews Summary

Igusa Hachimangu Shrine is praised for its authentic Shinto atmosphere and well-maintained, calming grounds, offering a peaceful local experience. Visitors appreciate the grand entrance gate and the genuine feel of the shrine, though some note potential crowds on peak days like New Year's.

"Largest of the local shrines. I decided to do my first shrine visit (初詣) here, and it is quite crowded around 13:00 on New Year's day. They're doing the crowd control thing with batches of people, like what I used to see when I did a couple of midnight visits at the big shrine of the Meiji Tenno (明治神宮). I think I've been here about 30 minutes, and now I'm about 2/3 of the way to the inner compound.

I visited at least once in the last few years and remember having a very nice okonomiyaki as I left. Expecting to have another in a while.

Someone already like the review, but I feel like I have to add an appendix. Didn't finish until about 1340, and the okonomiyaki didn't look as good as last time, so I didn't even try it this time. Soba type is different? Or maybe eggs have become too expensive?"

"A respectful big shrine gate is remarkable in such a calm residential area (just by Oume street)."
