Reviews Summary
Oshima Strait offers stunning natural beauty and relaxing island resorts, particularly praised for ocean views and dog-friendly amenities. However, significant concerns have been raised regarding pest infestations, primarily cockroaches and bees, which have impacted guests' dining and overall experience. While the location is a major draw, potential visitors should be aware of these issues and inquire about pest control measures.
"If you're afraid of cockroaches, please consider this option. We stayed overnight with our two dogs in a room with a dog run. We brought our own food and started the BBQ around 6 p.m. Just as we were toasting over a bonfire with an ocean view, a horde of cockroaches started popping in and out of the cracks in the wooden deck. It wasn't just a few, but dozens. They appeared on the deck as soon as the BBQ started, presumably looking for food. Perhaps they were looking for food? They seemed used to humans and showed no signs of running away. In fact, they seemed to be moving closer to my feet. The BBQ grill was fixed to the deck, so I was in charge of grilling. Cockroaches swarmed around my feet, so I tried my best to grill. But I kept telling myself they were sea lice, not cockroaches. I, by the way, hate insects. My wife couldn't use the table and chairs on the deck, so she had to eat standing in the dog run area, screaming and yelling. There was no way we could enjoy dinner in this situation, so we ended the BBQ early and went to bed. Upon checking out, I heard from an employee that there had been complaints about cockroaches in recent weeks. If that was the case, I wish they had told me about it when I checked in, and encouraged me to have an indoor BBQ. The room was clean, the bedroom was nice, I was able to walk my dog on the beach right in front of the hotel, and although it happened to be raining, I imagine the starry sky would have been beautiful if it had been sunny. The location is great, but it's a shame that there were so many cockroaches. It's a shame. Unless improvements are made, I won't be returning, and I can't recommend this hotel. I recommend checking the latest cockroach information before staying."

"The other day, a friend and I brought our dogs and booked a stay with meals included.
The view was beautiful, and there was a small dog run, which our dogs loved, but first, about five bees swarmed around the wooden deck.
We were worried that our dogs might get stung, so we brought them into the room and struggled to shoo them away.
When we finally calmed down and started the BBQ, dozens of cockroaches showed up.
We had insecticide in the room, but with the dogs there, we couldn't spray it in large quantities, and it was really disgusting.
They then started appearing in our room, bathroom, and toilet, which was very unpleasant.
We told the front desk when we checked out, but they just laughed and said, "I wonder what's going on."
I can't recommend staying in a room full of cockroaches, and I don't think I'll ever stay here again."

"A fantastic location overlooking Katasoegahama Beach! Just a short walk from the ocean, we returned for a dip in the pool. ♡
We enjoyed a BBQ featuring local seafood, delicious meat, and vegetables. ❣️ We spent a wonderful time with our dog, enjoying the ever-changing gradations of the sky.
The highlight, without a doubt, was the sunrise rising over the ocean right in front of us! A dreamlike beauty, an unforgettable journey. 🥰"

Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
When planning your stay, consider resorts that offer indoor dining options or family-friendly meal packages. Look for accommodations that offer a good balance of activities and relaxation, ensuring everyone in the family has a memorable time.

Navigating Oshima Strait: Travel & Transport
For those seeking a more relaxed experience, some resorts offer shuttle services from ferry ports or within their immediate vicinity. However, relying solely on these services might restrict your ability to explore beyond the resort's immediate surroundings. When planning your itinerary, factor in travel times between islands and potential waiting times for ferries. Consider purchasing a regional ferry pass if you plan to hop between multiple islands, as this can sometimes be more cost-effective.
Roadside stations are often found near ferry ports and can serve as convenient hubs for information, local snacks, and sometimes even car rentals. These stations can also be a good starting point for understanding local transport options. Always check the latest ferry schedules and car rental availability before your trip to ensure a smooth journey through Oshima Strait.

Dining in Oshima Strait: From BBQs to Local Flavors
Beyond BBQs, some establishments pride themselves on gourmet dining that showcases the region's produce. When exploring, look for opportunities to try regional specialties – asking resort staff or locals for recommendations is a great way to discover hidden gems. While the focus is often on seafood, it's advisable to inquire about vegetarian or vegan options in advance, as these may be less common, especially at smaller, more traditional eateries.
For a more casual experience, roadside stations often provide local snacks and light meals. Proximity to these stations can be a convenient factor when choosing accommodation.
